Every weekend, you’ll visit incredible destinations throughout Spain. From chic cities to ancient historical sites to Europe’s most beautiful beaches, we promise you’ll be amazed by ACA’s adventures in Spain!

Destination cities include:

Madrid

The capital of Spain, Madrid is best experienced on foot. The always-exciting Puerto del Sol filled with restaurants, shops and entertainment, it blazes with activity day and night. Take time

to browse El Rastro, a traditional Sunday morning flea market, and hunt for everything from clothes to CDs to cool Spanish art. Other must-see stops in Madrid Include:

  • The Prado Museum- with more than 7000 paintings, it’s one of the world’s largest art collections!
  • The Royal Palace- Has the most rooms of any palace in Europe, and contains an amazing collection of 15th century weapons and artifacts.
  • The Plaza Mayor- Architecture in true Madrid style, with soaring towers, long arcades and spacious patios.
  • The Reina Sofia- This modern-art museum features works by Picasso, Dali and Miro.

Toledo

The spiritual home of the great artist El Greco, Toledo has countless churches, synagogues and mosques, which share twisting streets and alleyways – testament to a time when three great religions peacefully coexisted. Amazing sites include:

  • The Cathedral- Taking over 250 years to build, today it houses 18 great works by El Greco
  • The Casa Museo del Greco- 19 more El Gre co masterpieces make this museum home.
  • Old Jewish Quarter- The Synagogue Santa Maria la Blanca - Europe's oldest!

Costa del Sol

A combination of familiar Spanish charm, timeless medieval appeal and sizzling celebrity playground, Costa del Sol has something for everyone. This gorgeous vacation destination has miles of pristine beaches such as Marbella, where you’re likely to rub shoulders with an internal film star. We’ll get to visit the world famous Puerto Banus where the rich and famous regularly pull up in their huge luxury yachts. The Costa del Sol is a favorite European vacation destination, renowned for its beautiful beaches, water sports and thriving dining and entertainment scene. This is truly the fun side of Spain!

Granada

Here is a place so rich in history and architecture that the enture city has been declared a national monument! Must –see attractions include:

  • The Alhambra- A legendary series of castles and fortresses recognizable the world over.
  • The Royal Chapel-The resting place of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.
  • The Alcaiceria- Where everyone bargains with the artisans for jewelry and handicrafts.
  • The Albaycin- Funky, winding streets are the hallmark of this old Moorish quarter
  • The Mirador de San Nicolas- Where you get a glorious view of the Alhambra.
  • Caldereria Street- Famous for an abundance of restaurants serving good, inexpensive Andalucian cuisine.

Córdoba

Located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Cordoba is a unique blend of religious influence and culture. Visit the Juderia, an ancient synagogue that is unchanged since being built in 1385, explore the Mezquita, a mosque built in 785 that contains Mohammed’s arm bone, then marvel at the view from the top of the towering Alcazar of the Christian Kings.

Cádiz

Spen the day surrounded by sand on three sides! A gorgeous expanse of beach on a picturesque peninsula, the Romans cherished Cadiz as a port, and a place to relax and enjoy the sparking seas. Check out the dramatic ocean views and invigorating warmth, and it’s easy to understand why Cadiz became one of the most popular launching points for journeys to the New World!

Barcelona

Take three days and two nights in this spectacular city, which resonates with classic Spanish warmth. Barcelona is known the world over for its stunning modern architecture and historic beauty. Compare the grandeur of ancient cathedrals and the middle-age majesty of the Gothic Quarter with modern fixtures like the Picasso Museum, the Villa Olympica and Gaudi’d famous church – Sagrada Familia.

Please note: The trip to Barcelona replaces the day trip to Cordoba and Cadiz for students who select the excursion. (Supplemental fee: $695*)
