A Pair of Eco-Tourism Paradises
Incredible Adventure at the Crossroads of Two Continents and Two Oceans
Costa Rica
You’ll be captivated by the beautiful beaches and exotic jungles, but don’t forget that you’re in the midst of one of the most bio-diverse places on the entire planet. There are more than 1,000 species of birds and mammals, and 9,000 different species of flowering plants! Costa Rica is only about the size of West Virginia but offers a world of opportunity for adventure. People come from around the world to hike its rainforests, explore its volcanoes, zip through its cloud forests and snorkel its immaculate waters. Even adventurers with less extreme agendas praise Costa Rica for its natural hot springs, incredible wildlife and pristine beaches.
One of the most advanced countries in Central America, Costa Rican citizens are understandably proud of their country’s successful industries, artistic richness, sturdy democratic government and safe, tourist-friendly disposition. When you think about it, Costa Rica’s name doesn’t do it justice. It’s much more than a “rich coast” – it’s truly a rich country!
You’ll spend one week in:
San José– The nation’s capital is a diverse, contemporary part of Costa Rica, offering rich culture and exciting diversions. Spending your time in the safe university district of San Pedro, this is the perfect launchpad for your Costa Rican experience.
Arenal– Home to the country’s most inspiring landmark, this amazingly active volcano has captivated locals and travelers for decades. Add incredible adventure opportunities and rejuvenating hot springs, and you’ve got an unforgettable week.
Manuel Antonio– An incredible national park with immaculate beaches and abundant wildlife – it’s the perfect combination to cap off your Costa Rican experience.
Panama
Panama is like no other country on earth – imagine being able to watch the sun rise and set over the same beach! Naturally, Panama is home to incredibly diverse ecology. In fact, there are many species of animals found nowhere else on earth. But Panama is also a cosmopolitan country with plenty of international appeal, and its people reflect this dual identity. Sophisticated city dwellers display European refinement, and indigenous cultures are as compelling and colorful as the environment they inhabit.
Panama City’s history, banking prowess and modern technology create such a thriving environment that it is viewed as the capital of all Central America. Three distinct parts of the city converge. Puerto Viejo’s old Spanish forts and stone ruins still overlook the sea. The quaint Casco Viejo neighborhood has evolved from colonial roots to become an internationally known home to great theaters, cafés and charming plazas. Split between these two historic settlements is the new Panama City, home to contemporary architecture and modern sophistication. A remarkable contrast!
Panama tours include:
Embera Indian Village– Travel by land and then dugout canoe to a village that hasn’t changed in centuries. This is truly a rare visit, transporting you to a totally different way of life.
Panama Canal Tour– One of the world’s most renowned engineering accomplishments, here’s your chance to see it up close. Almost 100 years old, the canal is arguably the most essential stretch of water in the world.
